Last week, Seamgen attended Xamarin’s worldwide mobile developer conference, Evolve 2013 in Austin, TX. The four-day event held from April 14-17, brought hundreds of mobile developers together to focus on training, collaboration and the latest trends in mobile development. Evolve 2013 featured two days of training on their product Xamarin, a cross-development mobile development platform, followed by two days of conference sessions.
Rob DeRosa, Director of Mobile Strategy, represented Seamgen at this year’s conference, receiving extensive technical training on Xamarin’s product. The training was separated into two separate groups that included fundamentals, a track for those new or in the early stages of mobile app development, and an advanced for current users who want to learn more about frameworks and concepts. The training included hands-on instruction on developing applications for iOS and Android devices with C#, advanced profile techniques, graphics, animation and integrating applications with back-end network services.
The conference sessions and keynote speakers covered a range of topics including mobile design, user experience, testing automation, cross-platform best practices, case studies, integration with cloud services and enterprise mobility. Xamarin co-founders Nat Friedman and Miguel de Icaza opened the conference keynote address with the announcement of new product features including the F#, C# 5.0 async, iOS User Interface Designer, and the most notable Xamarin Test Cloud, an automated user interface testing platform.
Here’s what Derosa had to say about the event…
“I knew Xamarin was a great solution for cross-platform mobile applications, but after attending Evolve, I’m convinced it’s a terrific solution even for apps on a single platform. We will be able to leverage over a decade’s worth of .NET experience in addition to taking advantage of features like async. The dedicated Android and iOS designers are both first class and the best available to developers.”
