Ledcor
A New Method of Time Capture and Entry

Construction Time Tracking

We designed and built a time tracking and crew management application for the international construction giant, Ledcor. Replacing an antiquated paper-based time tracking and billing system through extensive user research, interviews, and prototyping, we got to the core of the app’s intent for both workers in the field and affiliated workers in the office.

Focus on the Foreman

In ensuring efficiency, our goal was to create a system that allowed the main user of the application - the foreman - to track time and return to work without delay. As a result, we enabled the user to copy information regarding crews and equipment from previous days, ensuring a rapid entry of time or quick reminder pertaining to cost codes.

JD Edwards Integration

Cost codes are pulled in directly from an API level integration with JDE so that data remains accurate and relevant throughout the lifecycle of a project. App input syncs directly with accounting software for a huge increase in billing efficiency and accuracy, company wide. In addition to this, because crews are often working in remote areas, away from internet connections, data needed to be stored locally, often for days at a time. An offline mode makes this possible.

PROTOTYPE

Field Testing

Hooking in to their JDE database, our prototype allowed us to gain real world feedback from foreman and crew leads. We were able to make appropriate adjustments to increase efficiency before the initial iOS app went into development.
