From Software Engineering to Consulting

Nico studied at the University of California, Irvine. His technical background includes Python, C/C++, Java, Linux, firmware, data structures, algorithms, and version control.

Before moving into consulting, Nico worked on embedded product interfaces. At Teradek, he rewrote the software behind the front panels used across several products. Customers kept the interface they already knew, while the engineering team gained a shared codebase that was easier to maintain. He also wrote a detailed guide to the system and used it to train a new team member.

Working with Data and AI

While at UC Irvine, Nico worked on a project that used historical storm data from Texas to estimate property damage. His team trained a neural network using wind speed, location, and information about earlier storms in the area.

The project gave Nico experience using software and data to answer a real-world question. Today, he brings the same straightforward approach to client work at Itility US and Seamgen.

Building Software That Lasts

Nico believes software should be clear to the people who use it and the people who maintain it. He values useful documentation, reusable code, responsive interfaces, and simple solutions over unnecessary complexity.
